Ale Labrada, Program Manager, San Francisco
Ale Labrada was born in Mexico, but grew up in Marin County, attending schools in Fairfield and Novato. Ale joined SCORES as a program manager after working as a medical assistant in various healthcare settings, including urgent care, internal medicine, and plastic surgery. After learning about SCORES, she jumped at the chance to work directly with kids, especially in the outdoors. Growing up, she didn’t have access to programs like SCORES and is thrilled the students she works with today do.
As a first-generation student who started school as an English language learner, Ale easily relates to the many Spanish-speaking poet-athletes she works with in her SCORE role at Crocker Amazon in San Francisco.
In her spare time, Ale loves to take long walks and read. “I like memoirs because I like seeing people’s upbringings. I want to understand what shapes people.” A recent inspiring favorite was My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic appointed to the Supreme Court. “As a Latina woman, I found her story so inspiring.”
