Amy Yamner Jenkins
Head of Schools and Distribution at Outschool
Amy returned to SCORES as a board member nearly two decades after helping launch SCORES with Executive Director Colin Schmidt in 2001. Amy co-founded Meadow to help students navigate the financial hurdles of applying to colleges and universities. Before co-founding Meadow, Amy served as Head of Schools and Distribution at Outschool and a Managing Partner at Education Elements, a company focused on helping districts integrate technology into meaningful, student-centered instruction.
As an undergraduate at Dartmouth, Amy was awakened to the vast inequities and inequalities in school systems in the US through an eye-opening class that would change her path. She set aside her plans for law school to join Teach for America as a middle school teacher in Oakland. “I saw firsthand the challenges of meeting the needs of every student,” Amy says. “It had a visceral impact on me.”
After leaving SCORES, Amy earned an MBA at Harvard Business School. She worked at NewSchools Venture Fund and as a consultant for the Monitor Group before joining Education Elements in 2012. As SCORES integrates technology into its growth, Amy sees opportunities. “How can technology be a lever toward a set of goals we have for teaching and learning?” she asks.
Amy has two young daughters and coaches both of their soccer teams. She loves hiking and tackling ambitious and efficient health challenges, like 100 kettle swings and 100 daily sit-ups. Her abs are stronger than yours.
