Fazilat Nassiri
EdTech Recruiter/Founder at Gold Talent
Fazilat Nassiri has straddled multiple cultures and homelands since childhood. Born in Tehran, Iran, she and her family moved to Canada when she was six. Fazilat began school without knowing any English and quickly had to adapt. She did so while maintaining strong ties to her Iranian culture through her parents and attending Persian school in the evening. The family moved back to Iran nine years later, where Fazilat finished high school and earned her BS in Mining and Mineral Engineering at the University of Tehran.
For graduate school she moved countries again, this time to the UK, earning a Master of Science degree in International Business Management at the University of Surrey. A self-avowed career transitioner, Fazilat initially envisioned herself working in project management in the mining industry but segued into five years of television production work. In 2013, she moved to the Bay Area for a role in operations for a start-up, and that role led to her current work as a recruiter. She now runs Gold Talent, helping early-stage EdTech and learning companies find and retain top talent.
Fazilat is a die-hard soccer fan, though she still calls it “football” after her years living in the UK. She follows more teams (especially in the Premier League) and watches more televised games than anyone else on the SCORES board!
