Ranjani Ramakrishna

Technology. Healthcare. Governance. Fractional General Counsel

Ranjani Ramakrishna was born in India to parents working in government and academia. Her father’s regularly changing government postings meant the family moved frequently, and Ranjani became skilled at adapting to foreign situations and taking on new challenges. She initially studied math at a women’s college but later decided to pursue law, drawn to its logical problem-solving approach. At 23, after studying law in India, where she focused on human rights and pro-bono work related to domestic violence cases, she received a prestigious scholarship to obtain an LL.M (Master of Laws) degree from Harvard Law School.

After graduating from Harvard Law, Ranjani was admitted to practice law in New York and California. Over the past 30 years, she has worked in several legal roles including as a litigator and General Counsel for technology and healthcare services companies. Today, she provides fractional general counsel services to early-stage start-ups in enterprise SAAS platforms and AI technologies focused on healthcare, education, and government solutions.

Ranjani lives in San Francisco where she’s raised two kids, volunteered in both tutoring and leadership positions in public schools, and serves as a board member for the Community Living Campaign, a nonprofit providing services to seniors and people with disabilities. Joining the SCORES board allows her to help even more kids, especially those at under-resourced schools.

And a final fun fact: Ranjani is a lifelong classical Indian dancer, having studied since the age of seven with one of the most famous artists in India. By age 16 she was an “A” graded national television artist in India and had performed at major venues in three countries (France, UK, and India.)
