Middle School Program Director (Joined 2003)

Originally from El Salvador, Roberto began working with SCORES as a soccer coach in 2003 and has been instrumental in helping to build the Bay Area SCORES program and community.

Since 2005, he has returned each summer to El Salvador with a crew of committed volunteers to run a summer SCORES program for youth in the mountain town of Las Minas. Recently recognized for his continued contributions to local and international youth through sport and creative expression, Roberto was selected as the San Jose Earthquakes’ 2015 Community MVP.

Roberto earned his BA in physical education and a master’s degree in social work from Cal State East Bay. When he’s not playing soccer, you can see Roberto’s smooth moves playing chess or salsa dancing.
