Todd Johnson
Chief Financial Officer, Newcastle Partners
Todd Johnson grew up in rural Santa Rosa, spending much of his childhood playing outdoors, a sports-rich experience that spurred a desire to increase outdoor sports access to more kids, especially those with fewer resources. Joining the SCORES board has allowed him to do just that. “Any chance you have to seize an opportunity that will advance your life, doors open up for you,” he says. “Kids who get that opportunity will grow from the experience.”
Today, Todd is the CFO of Newcastle Partners, a privately held commercial real estate investment and development company focused on office redevelopment work in San Francisco, including the Jackson Square and South Park neighborhoods, and larger-scale industrial developments in Southern California. “I like the brick-and-mortar, tangible aspects of real estate versus other financial vehicles,” Todd explains.
In addition to his work with the SCORES board and other non-profit boards, he has volunteered with the San Francisco nonprofit, A Home Away from Homelessness, which focuses on changing the trajectory of homeless children’s lives.
In his spare time, Todd is still running around soccer fields, playing pick-up several days a week, including with SCORES Executive Director, Colin Schmidt. He lives with his wife and two kids in Bernal Heights.
And a final fun fact: In his early twenties, after his first job as a consultant for Arthur Anderson, he and a friend spent six months traveling around South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. A full-on travel buff, Todd has traveled to 40 countries and counting!
